Replace an outdated hosting platform

It is an understatement to say that data hosting is a highly strategic issue for Open Bee. The company, based in Annecy, an alpine town in southeastern France, specializes in the dematerialization and storage of various documents for its clients. It requires a new platform that is robust, efficient, and secure.

The solution Open Bee had been using until then was coming to an end. A migration project was therefore necessary. “Migrating all our customers from one platform to another can involve risks,” says Vincent Boyer, Open Bee's Technical Director.

Therefore, it was a question of opting for a hosting solution that combined all Open Bee's expectations, particularly in terms of security. “We needed to offer a document hosting solution for our customers with maximum business continuity and a disaster recovery plan,” continues the Technical Director.

Security, cost, flexibility: Cloud Avenue ticks all the boxes for Open Bee

Orange Business has been supporting Open Bee's projects and digital transformation for ten years. For this new challenge, Open Bee naturally turned to Orange Business. “Among a selection of other partners, Orange Business was the partner of choice,” says Marc Balleydier, founder of Open Bee. “Because, like us, Orange Business is a player that is committed to their customer promises.”

While Orange Business and Open Bee share many common grounds—technical expertise, human values, and customer satisfaction—Cloud Avenue's features have also appealed to Open Bee.

"We needed to host our data in France due to sovereign cloud issues," recalls Marc Balleydier. Indeed, Cloud Avenue addresses clients' sovereignty concerns with data centers operated and managed by Orange in France, ensuring legal sovereignty within Europe and immunity from extraterritorial laws, along with continuous support provided entirely by Orange Business employees.

Additionally, with Cloud Avenue, Open Bee can offer a highly effective business continuity plan to its clients, ensuring uninterrupted operations with multiple backups and protection software. Interruptions are minimized, even in the event of a failure or cyberattack.

The disaster recovery plan of Cloud Avenue facilitates efficient recovery with solutions like "dual room" and "dual site." Cloud Avenue also meets the needs of companies looking to control costs, as the hosting platform adopts flexible pricing based on resource usage. Furthermore, in terms of CSR and decarbonization goals, Cloud Avenue emits 43% less CO2 compared to the previous generation of Orange Business offerings.

With Cloud Avenue, Open Bee is set on a path to growth

Concerning Open Bee’s thoughts on Orange Business, they emphasize the efficiency, agility, and support of the Orange Business teams. "The migration went very well. But, of course, like any IT project, there can always be unforeseen issues. But the Orange Business teams knew how to adapt and were also able to provide us with a project manager to speed up the implementation. Everything went well and within the deadlines," says Vincent Boyer enthusiastically.

Since then, Open Bee has been looking to the future, with a cloud platform to match its ambitions. "Following this migration, we will be able to implement new projects, especially in scalability. And with containerization, we really need it because we have a growing number of customers," notes the Technical Director.

"We are satisfied with the price, with the human touch, and with the performance," adds the founder of Open Bee. "I don’t think we should change a winning team!"

"I see several benefits in working with Orange Business teams, particularly regarding their expertise. There is also the human side, which is essential for us, as the success of a project relies not only on the technical side, but also on the human side.”
