An identical architecture wherever you are

The “Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat” (CMA) Nouvelle-Aquitaine advises craftspeople on setting up and developing their businesses, as well as providing training. To fully understand CMA's needs, we need to go back to 2021. On that date, it merged its 12 departmental chambers into a single regional entity and had 37 points of contact throughout its territory.

A new objective quickly emerged: “to have an identical architecture throughout the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, whether we're working on a small site with 30 people, or in a training center with 1,300 or 1,500 learners,” explains Benjamin Guyomard, Production Department Manager at CMA Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Objectives

Unify the architecture of CMA
Improve connectivity for all entities
Secure Internet access for employees

CMA has a new project to integrate its firewalls into Flexible SD-WAN to further simplify the management of its IT system.

Fortinet SD-WAN to harmonize systems

For CMA Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the solution involves IP telephony for all entities and a broader project to standardize Internet connectivity across its sites. The Fortinet SD-WAN technology, in partnership with Orange Business, is seen as the most suitable option. It will enable the harmonization of information systems for both Internet access and IP telephony.

"The goal is to have guaranteed lines so that we can continue working at all times," notes Frédéric Métivier, System and Network Administrator at CMA. One of the concerns for CMA management was that with IP telephony, they would depend on the Internet, risking service interruptions. Therefore, CMA decided to simultaneously launch a large-scale project: the redundancy of its Internet access.

"The SD-WAN project was complex, involving the migration of 37 sites using different technologies to a single technology. We were a bit anxious," recalls Benjamin Guyomard.

Project Management to reassure the teams

Project Management is a service from Orange Business designed to provide peace of mind to teams during deployments and migrations to new solutions. A project manager coordinates all stages, ensures business continuity, and manages risk. They also handle reporting, serving as a dedicated contact who is available and attentive.

CMA chose project management support to address the teams' concerns, adopt the right methodology, and secure the entire project. Thus, a dedicated project manager was appointed.

CMA appreciated the simplicity of the migration. "The project manager was a true facilitator for the relationships with the fiber installation providers or with our local technical teams. The project went very smoothly and easily. It took very little time for both my team and myself," assures Frédéric Métivier.

With Internet redundancy, access is guaranteed

"The main risk of an IP telephony solution was total service interruption," recalls Benjamin Guyomard. The migration quickly met expectations and addressed one of CMA's primary concerns.

Now, in case of a power cut, the solution automatically switches flows to the most suitable Internet access among the three available ones on each site. "We now have clean Internet access at all sites in a very short time,” assures Frédéric Métivier.

What was great with the Orange Business teams is that they adapted to our needs and didn’t come with a packaged solution.
